BHi and the London Abused Women's Centre would like to thank all those who participated and/or just came out for a great weekend of Co-Ed ball hockey at BHi London this past weekend.
Those involved in the hockey enjoyed some fantastic November weather during the Co-Ed ball hockey tournament which has been held these past two years as a memorial to a loyal activist who has left our community too soon, Mr. Dave Richards.
The 2012 tournament saw eleven teams participate, with the finals coming down to a showdown between a BHi London team (Fire Monitoring of Canada or FMC) versus a BHi Brantford team (Sammy's). This year's tournament attracted teams from London, the Niagara Region, Brantford, and Orillia.
As was to be expected the championship game was a nail biter, displaying a great deal of team work on both sides. In the end, FMC came out on top with a 5 to 4 win to claim to trophy. Special acknowledgement must go to Krista Smith with two crucial goals in the game, and Brad Riehl for some excellent goal tending. Sammy's was also led by some great goaltending from Crystal and shooting from Jenna Werle.
Again, we would like to thank everyone for participating and we look forward to seeing everyone at the 3rd Annual Dave Richards Memorial Co-Ed Ball Hockey Tournament next year.
